MOOC- Massive Open Online Course 

Professor Ramalingam is briefed overall about the VITOL and MOOCs and he explained the difference of two online learning platforms. He also discussed the needs of online learning and how the online learning came into existence. Advantages of online learning over a traditional learning also discussed during presentation 

Professor extensively discussed VITOL development in VIT campus, struggles and achievement in developing well equipped multimedia studios.The vision of the VITOL is to set up the global level campus for online certificates and quality should be compared with coursera. 

In feb-2020 offered bio-inspired design course nearly 500 students registered and taken the VITOL certificates, this is demand of learning through online 

Some of the points discussed about studio and VITOL 

VITOL is a small online learning platform like NPTEL and it was started on august 2019 Its well equipped multimedia studio Its possible to explain virtual labs Live streaming facility All videos can accessed in youtube Live streaming facility is available in studio Offering master programmes MBA and MCA and approved by UGC Diploma certificate also offering and it has greater demand -6 months courses 3 studios(Virtual Green Board, Green Matt Studio,Multimedia studio) Green background is better and adopted Capture outdoor events Lifelong learning, 

E-learning is free for students Outsider can also access video from yube and to get certificate , here, the assessment 

exam in online Lerner can communicate through chat box and learner community also developed OCW, OER, Distance Education Delivering education for all Reaching out Global learners 

Professor also discussed higher education scenarios in India and it was shared below 

Nearly more than 36000 higher institutions and 900 universities are present in India. Decade back around 11% are doing higher education and now its increased to 25%, this 

shows the demand of online erling 

The last professor explained the other source of online learning such as coursera, Edx and Udacity etc.. 

MOOCs are well established on 2012, even though concept was came in picture 

1998-99 More courses are offered through coursera- 47% Lifelong learning is not longer a luxury but a necessary for an employment for better 

performance Coursera, Edx, Udacity, etc are the big platform of online learning 

Professor also discussed about the four pillars of MOOCs 

Mooc- 4 pillars - (i) Expertise, (ii) IP Right, (iii) Video capturing & (iv) server/platform In future, online will be mainstream of education Online education growth 41% in the world but in India 9% in recent years.
